1. Introduction

Welcome to Tick Notes ("the App"), developed and operated by Truvion ("we", "us", or "our"). This Privacy Policy explains how we handle information when you use our mobile and desktop application available on Android, Linux, Windows, and macOS.

We built Tick Notes on a simple principle: your personal information belongs to you. The App is designed to work entirely on your device without collecting, transmitting, or storing any of your data on external servers.

By using Tick Notes, you agree to the practices described in this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree with any part of this policy, please discontinue use of the App.

2. Information We Collect

We collect no personal information whatsoever. Tick Notes does not require you to create an account, provide an email address, or share any identifying information to use the App.

Data you create inside the App

All content you create — notes, tasks, reminders, and focus session records — is stored exclusively in a local database on your own device using SQLite. This data never leaves your device and is never transmitted to us or any third party.

Data we do NOT collect

Tick Notes contains no analytics SDK, no crash reporting service, no advertising network, and no third-party tracking library of any kind.

3. How Your Data Is Stored

All App data is stored locally on your device in a SQLite database managed by the Drift library. This database is saved to your device's private application storage directory, which is only accessible by the Tick Notes App itself.

When you uninstall the App, all locally stored data is permanently deleted from your device. We have no ability to retrieve this data once it is deleted, as it was never stored anywhere other than your own device.

No cloud backup

The current version of Tick Notes does not include cloud backup or cross-device sync functionality. Your data exists solely on the device where you created it. We strongly recommend you maintain your own backups of important notes using your device's built-in backup tools or by exporting your notes manually.

4. Notifications and Permissions

Tick Notes may request the following device permissions. Each permission is used solely to deliver the feature described and for no other purpose.

Notification permission

Used exclusively to deliver task reminders you have explicitly set within the App. All notification scheduling is performed locally on your device. No notification content is transmitted to any server.

Storage permission (Android)

On older versions of Android, a storage permission may be requested to save the App's local database. On Android 10 and above, this permission is not required and is not requested.

You may revoke any permission at any time through your device's system settings. Revoking notification permission will prevent task reminders from appearing; it will not affect any other App functionality.

5. Third-Party Services

Tick Notes does not integrate with any third-party services, APIs, or SDKs that collect user data. Specifically, the App does not use:

The only external libraries used by Tick Notes are open-source packages that operate entirely on your device, including Drift (local database), Riverpod (state management), fl_chart (charts), and flutter_local_notifications (reminders). None of these libraries transmit data externally.

6. Children's Privacy

Tick Notes is a general-purpose productivity application suitable for all ages. The App does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children under the age of 13 (or the applicable age of digital consent in your country).

Because no personal information is collected at all, Tick Notes is inherently compliant with children's privacy requirements including COPPA (United States) and similar regulations in other jurisdictions.

7. Your Rights

Because Tick Notes does not collect or process any personal data, there is no personal data held by us for you to request, correct, or delete. All data you create in the App is owned entirely by you and remains under your full control on your device.

You can delete all App data at any time by uninstalling the App from your device, or by clearing the App's data through your device's system settings.

If you are a resident of the European Union, United Kingdom, or California, you have additional rights under GDPR, UK GDPR, and CCPA respectively. Given that we collect no personal data, these rights are satisfied by design.

8. Data Security

Your data is protected by your device's own security mechanisms, including device encryption (where enabled) and Android's application sandboxing, which prevents other apps from accessing Tick Notes' private storage directory.

We recommend keeping your device's operating system up to date and using a screen lock to protect your data from unauthorized physical access.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in the App's functionality or applicable legal requirements. When we make changes, we will update the effective date at the top of this page and, where required by law, notify you through the App or the Google Play Store listing.

We encourage you to review this policy periodically. Continued use of the App after any changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.

Questions or Concerns?

If you have any questions about this Privacy Policy or how Tick Notes handles your data, please reach out to us. We aim to respond within 48 hours.
